Meningitis can be a fatal disease that can kill a child in hours. In this video our paediatrician shows you how to recognise a non blanching rash which is a late sign of meningococcal meningitis or sepsis/septacemia. You will see a glass test or tumbler test being performed on a sick child with a non-blanching rash. This will allow you to assess your child’s rash. Our paediatrician also goes through the other symptoms of meningitis in babies and children including; high fever, cold mottled extremitites, vomiting, headache, stiff neck, avoiding light (photophobia) and an unusual high pitching cry in babies. This video comes from the Essential Parent Company
